The problem is how? How to amass enough people who are willing to stand up and refuse? There is SO much theft, corruption & bribery “out there”. Massey’s departure seems to be a siren song shooting down the libertarian caucus. The surveillance state is tightening. TX is not the shining city on a hill. I’m all ears too.
Two weeks ago I received my 2026 Property Tax Assessment. Tennessee.
It doubled from two years ago. I live in what used to be the country. Now subdivisions (4 so far) have been built and are being built within three miles of me.
I’ve a 1984 built home. Now, the infrastructure to accommodate these subdivisions and others more distant are being paid for by me and others like me. Developers come in, buy the land, build and sell the houses….and leave. The cost is placed on us.
I wrote the Accessors office, the Mayor, and Commissioners last week. No acknowledgement. The bastards.
I haven't received my assessment yet. But I'm going to protest it.
There's no freaking way that this house on one acre was appraised at 60 grand 30 years ago and now it's worth 450 grand? Hook me up with buyer.
The rest of the land has increased in value, a couple of grand an acre.
Well, I've been told "you can't do that" and all I can say is "hide and watch" because if for some reason they decide to seize my house, they'll just get a pile of ashes.

I feel your pain.
