I have thought for some time that eventually we will have to add Islam to the "terrorist organization to be erased" list.

Yes, I know we have that 1st Amendment right to freedom of religion, but does that include religions like Nuestra Señora de la Santa Muerte?

And Voodoo?

What about the old Aztec religion? https://www.livescience.com/59514-cultures-that-practiced-human-sacrifice/2.html

These 25 that practiced human sacrifice? https://www.livescience.com/59514-cultures-that-practiced-human-sacrifice.html

We already regulate genital mutilation and honor killing, so what about a religious practice like Sharia. One that's dedicated to killing us all?

I can hear the screams of outrage at this idea, and much of it will come from those who would happily eradicate both Judaism AND Christianity. "Oh, but all Muslims aren't terrorists". Maybe not, but they all allow it, tolerate it, or indirectly support it... and how do you tell the difference?

It's the same as the jellybean problem, and both have only one sure solution.

"Only some of them are poisoned- don't worry about it."

No, the answer is don't swallow it

Eventually I think this question will be settled in the old fashion way, the way- the way Muslims prefer to settle it. As the old saying goes, "Not by who is right, but by who is left".

Until the Supreme Court majority ruled, 5 - 4, as it did in the birthright case, I held hope that First Amendment would be able to withstand its abuse by Muslims. By abuse I mean for Muslims to take advantage of, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion..." The First Amendment was written to alleviate the conflict that lay between Christian sects. There had been much bloodshed over religious wars in Europe and which religion was to be the state religion in a particular country. The struggle in England between the Catholics and Protestants resulted in death, privation, and not a few nobles being beheaded. The First Amendment was to ensure there would be no American national/state religion or dominant sect. Before the Bill of Rights was added in 1791, the Philadelphia Constitution did not specifically prohibit a "national religion." However, an underlying principle of government, federalism, was built in. Federalism and its operative design limited federal/national government power to a few enumerated powers. See Article I Section 8 of the US Constitution. James Madison wrote in Federalist #45, "The powers delegated by the proposed Constitution to the federal government, are few and defined. Those which are to remain in the State governments are numerous and indefinite. The former will be exercised principally on external objects, as war, peace, negotiation, and foreign commerce; with which last the power of taxation will, for the most part, be connected. The powers reserved to the several States will extend to all the objects which, in the ordinary course of affairs, concern the lives, liberties, and properties of the people, and the internal order, improvement, and prosperity of the State." Therefore, states could have their own state religion if the people of the state chose. My point is that Federalism was intended to allow states and locales to self-govern.

Then, in 1791 the Bill of Rights was added. Again, it was intended to prevent religious conflict between and among Christians. However, with current contemporary intellectual laziness, (some use the term conventional wisdom but it is neither conventional nor wise), there will be, there is, an enormous level of tolerance that would/will/does allow Muslims to use the 1st Amend. as a legal shield to force Americans, Christians, to tolerate and accept small, issues of Islam that are of little concern, initially. As so many today think it would seem right to do so. As time passes what begins as requests, small inconveniences, become demands and as their numbers increase, so will the demands to allow and then require Sharia law recognition in public. There is a provision in Sharia that allows Muslims to lie in order to deceive infidels, Christians. I believe there are many Muslim immigrants who only seek to live and let live. But there are many hardliners who will not. Our women, wives, mothers, daughters, nieces, grandmothers and granddaughters will be grateful for our prevention of "Shariaization." of America. It is already happening in some schools in the USA. So, I hold little out little hope that the 1st Amend. will be properly applied.
