Time is very, very short and despite some immediate wins (border crossings down) the republicans true to form are working hard to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Pork laden bills continue, judges stifling everything continue, no real fight-back other than an appeal or two, congress is on vacation, God knows who knows or is doing what in Ukraine.

It's as though the Titanic stopped keeling over for a minute, but it's creaking again.

Bitching aside, working to keep fit and stay close to friends, family and such like-minded people as can be found. But yet another problem: "apocalypse fatigue" has set in, and with it a real loss of urgency partly from sheer fatigue, and partly because many have gone back to sleep now Trump is in. But Elon has emerged to crucify the bill, so cracks are appearing too.

TL, I am now totally immune to the fake crying of neighbors over the deportation of some parasite invader. Recently, there was a big weep about some 4 year old Mexican girl with short bowel syndrome possibly being deported by mean old Trump. Well, I'm sorry that the child is obviously not going to live a full life, she needs 14 hours a day being fed by tube. How long can this go on? I see no reason why she can't be treated in Mexico anyway, tubal feeding isn't the most technical procedure and they do have hospitals there. But this angst over this girl shows me that we simply cannot take care of every sick child in the world. Where does it stop? Do we take in millions of sick children and treat them using taxpayer money while we don't even provide adequate medical and dental care to our own citizens. Anton was right, and doubly so.
