And quite obvious is that our elected do not care...look at @leaderthune. Our court system doesn't care...look at recent SCOTUS decisions. WE HAVE NO CHOICE OF RESISTANCE...until it gets to your own driveway. Where the wagons are circled. And then STAND YOUR GROUND is engaged.
Let's see what happens then cause I know the women in my family will not face the choice of wearing a burqua...or getting raped.

You ask "How egregious does the treachery have to be to get a response?" Does it matter? Is there any level of "egregious" that hasn't seen met? That "the next one" will be worse than the last is the thermostat in the analogy of the Boiling Frog. Everyone is outraged by this latest insult with feigned outrage - until the next one. When that "next one" arrives, everyone will have already gotten accustomed to the Last One they complained about.

As for the "..shot across the bow". I respectfully disagree. The embarrassing paucity of civil decency and pride much less enthusiastic patriotism and appreciation, was another torpedo amidships. Remember, post iceberg, the "unsinkable" Titanic took awhile to actually sink. Barring a sudden infusion of logic, common sense and leadership appropriate for the day, I believe our best move is locating and fortifying our personal lifeboats. Happy 4th.
Prepare yourself and your family. Beyond that, attempt to find like-minded individuals, and their families and friends. Try to survive, and try to keep your wealth, your freedom. and your investments out of the hands of the greedy class. Among that greedy class I count bureaucrats, politicians, and all the worthless leeches on society who follow them. There I'm talking the Mamdani and AOC Kool-Aid drinkers, as well as the tax, spend, civil forfeiture, and eminent domain parasites in every group in the country. Republican, Democrat, Independent, DSP or whatever, they all think some or all of YOUR property belongs to them. Some will use the government's guns to get "their fair share", some few others actually have the huevos the use their own guns. Personally, I fear that is where we will end up deciding the matter. I appears that the excuse making and go-along-to-get-along crowd will allow nothing less. People like Thune, Collins, McConnell and such are the rot within. The recent SCOTUS failure to remove anchor babies, with Roberts, Barrett, and Kavanaugh joining the mindless sock puppets- Sonia Sotomayor, Elana Kagan, Ketanji Brown Jackson- is yet another example of the rot at the top.
This sort of putrefaction is why I doubt we can vote our way out of this storm. Too many people are on some version of the "I got beer in the fridge and the game's on Sunday" wagon.
I'm going to reply to this comment, but it works for the same point of view of others. As individuals, we have limited impact on the great power struggle going on around us, but we have got to choose to stand on one side of the issues. That's not a problem for most of my subscribers, you're already there, but this gets read by a lot of others who think there's some civil way of approaching the all-out assaults and there isn't. Hostility must be met with hostility, dedication with dedication. If it comes down to a fight, it's going to get nasty and we won't have any political backing, so now is the time to be careful, but strident in our defense of our principles.

The leftists have been threatening everything from prison, re-education camps, and property confiscation to outright murder. This has already been started by individual acts of violence, crowd violence, and gang violence, directed against the enemies of the left. Various leftist politicians have threatened the use of the power of the State to do the same, "When we're back in control". If (when) it comes to that, Beta boys and girls will be of no use. The couch potatoes and keyboard warriors will have to do more than wring their hands and talk trash. Eventually there will come a time for these individuals to give up their "summer soldier and sunshine patriot" position. People will have to decide for themselves, on an individual basis, whether they will stick with Rodney King's "Can't we all just get along" or instead choose Capt. John Parker's cry on Lexington Green- "Stand your ground. Don't fire unless fired upon, but if they mean to have a war, let it begin here!".
The danger can come from a thug in a parking lot, or a gang trying to burn the neighborhood. In either case, talk will be very cheap. As the old saying goes- "You Can Vote Your Way Into Communism, But You Have To Shoot Your Way Out".
The major problem is that our rulers have taken away most of the rights we just assumed in the 19th century...Freedom of association, States' rights, no income taxation to fund foreign wars, and a sound currency ....have all disappeared...to create a mammoth and punitive central Government and perpetual war...Patrick Henry warned against all these consequences of. the Federal Government created by the Constitutional Convention run riot....
It's all a do-over, but it's likely collapse will precede that....

We have two problems in the USA right now; Democrat Socialists America (Communists) and Islam.
We have to identify every DSA member and every Islamist - and KILL every goddamn one of them.
Every patriotic American MUST make it his/ her duty to begin this endeavor - NOW.
It's time to make that decision and follow through with it.
There is a third problem we have that needs to be addressed - Israel.
