I see the dock strike as more of a problem for the regime than for we the people. The regime wants chaos, wait until the truckers join in. The regime can print money but they can't print food or fuel. We in flyover country will be fine, we'll survive these floods and destruction and be stronger for it. But you're absolutely right about casting a vote being a necessary act of defiance and rebellion. Let the chips fall where they will.

Forty plus year ago, my mother gave me this quote, in her perfect hand-written cursive, that I laminated and keep on the refrigerator to this day. I think it can serve us well in the days to come.

"I am only one, but I am one. I cannot do everything, but I can do something. And because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do the something that I can do. What I can do, I should do. And what I should do, by the grace of God, I will do."

~ Edward Everett Hale ~ Grand-nephew of Nathan Hale, the Revolutionary War hero executed by the British for espionage.

Marty, There is a high school in Seattle called "Nathan Hale."

https://halehs.seattleschools.org/

The Seattle School District wants to change the name of George Washington Middle School and Isaac Ingalls Stevens Elementary School due to their "racist" past. Hope they leave Nathan Hale High School's name alone.

Marty...I just love this (the quote and that you appreciate your mother’s lovely handwriting). Several years ago, I had found a small piece of paper in my bible in which my mother had written: “Faith is not believing that God can, but knowing that He will”. I, too, appreciate the beautiful handwriting my mom had and her message, so I copied that piece of paper and framed it (one for each of my kids)! I think I might laminate it for myself and put it on my fridge ; ) !!

TL, as always...thank you for being a voice of reason and truth!!

CBS News: "Offering a glimmer of hope that a strike could be averted, USMX said late Monday that negotiations with the union had resumed.

"In the last 24 hours, the USMX and ILA have traded counter offers related to wages," the industry group said in a statement.

"Our offer would increase wages by nearly 50%, triple employer contributions to employee retirement plans, strengthen our health care options, and retain the current language around automation and semi-automation," USMX added."

Maby not so much?

Can't fence time

Won't stop "progress"

spingerah, Back in the 1940s and 50s, the Longshoreman's Union in Seattle was run by an Aussie Communist. Seattle is a very Union town. It had the only General Strike in the US back around WWI when the Wobblies (International Workers of the World, IWW) were strong in the Pacific NW.

The businessmen were terrified of the ILU and signed on with Dave Beck and his Teamsters Union. Beck believed in free market capitalism, but he demanded 38% of after tax profits for his Teamsters. Beck also steered millions in Union funds into Seattle which gave the city a boom. There are many beautiful bungalows, or were, in Seattle due to Beck and his Union.

I hope the ILU strike ends quickly.

Seattle was a "working mans town" but that has definitely changed. Many business are relocating & the building boom is over. Even Besos split to Florida. The modern day "wobblies" running the place have turned it into a giant homeless camp.

If uncle Vlad is smart he won't nuke it along with portland, San Francisco,L.A.etc.

The rats & roach infection that have taken the west coast can then finish off what ever is left of the fusa.

spingerah, I lived in Seattle, Edmonds, and on Port Gamble Bay from 1975-2000. They were building the Kingdome when I arrived and blew it up when I left. You couldn't pay me to even visit the place now and both my kids live in the Puget Sound area.

The place has become a nightmare. Is Boeing still on strike? Are they still putting tartar sauce on french fries down at Ivar's? Is Green Lake still green?

I hope Trump makes it to the election. I'm not registered to vote and I'm keeping it that way. The 2020 election was stolen and no one paid for that crime. Here in California, the Republican Party has ceased to exist. EVERY public office, except for a small minority of legislators in Sacramento, is a Democrat. If the LA and Oakland ports close in the dock strike, it will be chaos out here.

What you refer to as "necessary deeds" I've occasionally thought of as "crossing the Rubicon".

I'll be surprised if there is any appreciable keneticism should Trump fail to ascend. Lately I've come to associate the word "docile" with those on the right. And why would we not, on the whole, be docile after living under the protection of the nuclear umbrella for 70+ years? The next generation, however, growing up as they will in more of a third world situation, will not be so docile. I almost envy them that. Those of my own generation are, I'm afraid, fated to perish while calling out for a change of bed pans.

If I'm wrong then this old man will be the first bring water to those on the field of battle.

Aptly put. It will be, for many, an act of service to those actively engaged. If this is what can be done, it should be. If more can be done, it should be. One will find their place.

I live on the outskirts of the old stars&bars capitol. Not urban but not country either. I’m about as prepared as I can get. I’m always looking to improve however and today visualized where I could string barbed wire. Sounds crazy but hey it’s part of my DNA.

YES I HAVE VOTED. VA HAS MANDATORY PAPER BALLOTS!
