I’m supposed to be working on a screenplay about the January 6th prisoners. I’m supposed to be considering a publishing contract for ten books. I’m supposed to be trying much harder to promote and shop my remaining screenplays and television pilots. Yet, I always come back to the blog, because in order for any of that to make sense, a lot of things have to change politically and culturally. Despite what people think, there is a thirst for the sort of things I write, things that ignore the temporary insanity of the present and highlight the best of what America has to offer.
I’ve worked very hard to drive home the understanding that Hollywood is defunct, morally and intellectually bankrupt. They don’t serve their audience, but seek, like everything from corporations to schools, to brainwash and coerce the American public. We don’t need Hollywood and at one time I was largely alone in that opinion, but now many have seen the light and understand the situation. Still many don’t understand the link between movies and reality, how making movies outside the Hollywood system, about Middle America for Middle America; free to embrace the religious nature of the region; free to celebrate the working family, farmers and store owners rather than ridiculing them; recognizing their experiences, we can shine a light on the plight of the American family during a time when the politics are against them, in opposition to them, because they seem to be (gasp) conservative.
Movies done right help people to see that they’re not alone and give them a cause to rally around, give them a “for instance” that helps them to communicate their thoughts and feelings about a given subject. Hollywood wants to remake the family and ridicule the region, so it won’t allow a positive film about them, give them a cause to rally around, even though that’s where fortunes can be made. We’re all flawed, you see, backward. The fact is, Hollywood knows they need this audience, recognizes how badly it needs Middle America, but is now trapped by their own rules. Any film that does not promote LGBTQ and diversity will not be considered for an Oscar. The way the film industry works, that has to be possible. Funding relies on it. An Oscar can take a film from relative obscurity to a blockbuster, where the big money is, and something no financier will let themselves be excluded from by the nature of the film.
I had thought, by this time, there would have been a more substantial film industry out here in the hinterlands. I had thought, by this time, enough people would understand the importance of pushing back against the woke nature of Hollywood with our own messages, our own coalescing reinforcement of Middle American values. There are thousands of conservative producers, directors, actors and technicians. I’ve run into quite a few over the past couple of years as they seek an exit, but still must speak in hushed terms for fear of being outed and their career ruined. While we can work with people with whom we disagree politically, they cannot and will not. The left is much more virulently ideological than we are. I believe that’s because we are right and trust in that rightness while they are wrong and must force everyone around them to swallow the pill and speak no ill of their intent.
Okay, but where are the millions and millions of like-minded when it comes to movies? I can’t even go to the theater anymore, because I don’t like or trust the movies coming out of Hollywood and not enough people are taking up the sword and wading into the moral battle for the hearts and minds of the audience. The only serious Hollywood movie that was a huge success that didn’t involve some cartoon basis like Marvel was Maverick, a patriotic film. The funds are there, just waiting to be picked up off the street for people with an understanding of what the audience wants.
But, TL, aren’t you always talking about the imminent disaster, the ongoing banking crisis, the looming civil war or even nuclear war? Why would anyone invest in such nonsense with all of that going on?
That is the fundamental misunderstanding of the cultural war. No matter what happens in the future, there will still be a need to produce things that put our point of view forward. Even if we win, it needs to be there. If we lose, it still needs to be there, perhaps distributed out of El Salvador, but available nonetheless to those who need it for inspiration as they continue the resistance. People have to know what they’re fighting for, not just what they are fighting against.
Besides, to be honest, if you haven’t gotten all of your preps done by now, certainly do that before you seek to fund films, but if you have, I’m not sure what good you think those thousands in the bank will do when they bail-in the next SVB, because there isn’t a dime in the FDIC or the FED. They don’t even tie the printing press to bond purchases anymore, it’s all just pure digits on the balance sheet. We’ve just seen the elimination of the petrodollar as the only means of purchasing oil and we’re in the process of losing the dollar as the world reserve currency in favor of the BRICS. All of those thousands of dollars in one’s account isn’t backed by jack right now, forget the FDIC insurance, there isn’t enough to cover even half of the looming failures in the mix.
And, I’m not selling anything to anyone. There is no film to invest in, as it stands. I have people willing to look at the January 6th script when I get it finished. I’ve used whatever funds I’ve received for Not Like That to promote it to producers and even though it was accepted and put in the file, it remains there for some future date.
I’m speaking in generalities, because people tend to think of the film industry as a luxury, as a nebulous ether world where they have no business and I’m trying to convince them that that attitude is exactly why our children are being raised to praise and emulate the worst scum on the planet. For every negative there must be a positive. Take any social issue you want and look at it that way. Where there are public schools, the lack of a counter to them has left our children at the mercy of the teacher’s unions and the leftist agenda. In corporations, where there hasn’t been a sufficient counter to the Covid mandates there’s been hundreds of thousands dying from “Suddenly.” Where there is a significant resistance, an actual counter, like the Second Amendment, there’s equilibrium at least and we’re even making enough headway that they have to use false flags for leverage.
What I will tell you is that whatever war there is, it isn’t being fought in the streets with AR-15s, it’s being fought in the media, it’s a war of information, of images, of emotions and intellect. It’s a simple misunderstanding of the battlefield. To that extent, the real war isn’t being fought and to whatever degree we cede even one inch of territory, we cede it to our enemies.

You point out in your essay that in order to make money on a movie and to get the recognition from the academy, they must include diversity and wokeness. This is obviously so true. There is not a TV series or, a theatrical movie where there is not a queer couple. Most recently the HBO series 'The Last of Us' dedicated two episodes to the queer crowd -- one with 2 men; the other, with 2 women. If I'm at home, I can turn it off or, fast forward through the filth.
"The Chosen", now going on 4 seasons, was funded and produced totally outside of Hollywood's corrupt system. It has been a huge success by all accounts. At least 50% (or more, hopefully?) is hungry for watching entertainment that is not 'woke'. I think Maverick proved that. This country, in all areas, has been starved of anything patriotic and wholesome that it is longed for by many.
Unfortunately, big time hurt for almost everyone is just around the corner. We are closer now to the collapse of the western financial system than we have ever been. It is all lining up and for those with eyes to see and ears to hear, know its coming. It is only a matter of how much longer the house of cards can stand. We are truly a house divided.
You write so beautifully and truthfully! Hollywood, much to everyone's shock, wasn't always a horn-dog, Queer Nation, raping children venue, ethnic worshipping factory. There was a time, when the majority of Hollywood was comprised of every day normal people. Certainly the "underpinings" of stage hands, techs, drivers. Folks wrote scripts, tried to get a current producer/director interested, and get it on film. The films covered real life situations; Science Fiction was just that. No one rewrote history, although they did take some liberties. I go back to my story of Lucille Ball. My mother was driving me around, selling those damned girl scout cookies (I think that I was 9/10), and I knocked on one house in Beverly Hills and LB answered the door! And she bought cookies! My mother later asked why she answered her own door, and LB said the maid was off that day. I sometimes feel like I am as old as methuselah when I tell folks about the Los Angeles that I grew up in. Yes, there was always crime, rapes, murders, queer folks, and child grooming. But it wasn't everywhere, and if it found the light of day-said behavior was squished immediately. My mother said the wheels started coming off in the '60's.
"Funding relies on it. An Oscar can take a film from relative obscurity to a blockbuster, where the big money is, and something no financier will let themselves be excluded from by the nature of the film." Now you know why Mel Gibson does a lot of his own work, John Wick is a successful franchise, and no one will touch "Gone With the Wind". It is all about the money. Always has been and always will be. That is why no one watches the Oscar's anymore. We all know it's a sham and voodoo ceremony about unimportant people and delusional films. I avoid anything Disney like the plague but Netflix, Amazon, and some others do present limited quality shows. Virgin River is a great series-I'm surprised it got made. Bosch was outstanding; great acting, tight scripts, and limited weird folks. Maybe television is an easier leap.
To quote Andrew Torba and many others: we need our own communities. Then we can spring forth. And never secede an inch of territory.
