We Are Not One

What else is it but a civil war when you have one state trying to defend its borders from an invasion of military-age and single men from enemy nations and the federal government suing it to keep the borders open? What else is it when one political party seeks the imprisonment of the candidates of the other. No, it isn’t just Trump, they’re trying to imprison faithful Secretaries of State. The law is their weapon, since they can’t garner democratic majorities, they use force. Civil for now, violent when they don’t get their way.

That is a war against the very ideals of democracy, they have taken on democratic values and decided against them. That they continue to spout “democracy” is mere distraction. They have corrupted elections to the point the people no longer believe in them. That is the very destruction of democracy. Always accuse the opposition of what you yourself is doing.

I’ve been spending more time trying to finish the third novel in the J.D. Wilkes trilogy, Into Exile, because I know my time is short. I believe that 2024 will bring a lot of things out into the open, like the fact that no election can be held in the future where a Democrat doesn’t win, even if they pretend to be a Republican. It just won’t be possible, or it will be deferred in order to handle some emergency of their making, or until they can imprison enough of the opposition that there’s a clear path to their domination.

This isn’t a joke and it isn’t hyperbole. The more difficult the political headwinds are to navigate, the more draconian they will be. States need to sort out their own power. I’m amazed at how hard Abbott is finally starting to fight, but every day is a new day. Nothing from yesterday will suffice when it comes to a future betrayal, so I carry my admiration carefully and conditionally.

There are positive things in the political world, but none of them are on the right. A career politician cannot go against the headwinds of globalism, it’s a losing proposition as long as the people remain timid. That’s starting to change, too, but not fast enough or thorough enough. We’ll see.

As a people, we have some pretty big demons in our path. The Green New Deal implemented as methods of combatting climate change are poised to wreck our electric grid for eternity, which would not be a horrible thing. It would be the one thing that solidly cements in the minds of the masses that yes, some ideas are so stupid as to cause seismic shifts in world politics. They’ll find out. We should be prepared.

It’s going to be a cold winter and it’s self-inflicted. It’s going to be an expensive year, taking a lot of capital down the drain. In this political climate, there isn’t even the fortitude to punish Sam Bankman-Fried to the fullest, because the second trial would have exposed crooked politicians. The lack of demonstrative opposition signals the Republicans were getting their share of the money. It’s the crooked politicians that benefit and the people have every reason to expose them. How can that not be in the public interest? Well, it’s not in the politician’s interest, that’s for sure and law enforcement, it turns out only acts to support the left. Cowards

Everywhere one looks, they see clear divisions, whether it’s the purpose and role of the schools, the military, the Fed, banks or any other supposedly non-political issues. The whole nation is caught up in one big political scheme, whether that’s wind generators or electric vehicles, etc., none of which work without considerable subsidies and what method of power has been abandoned? The one where it pays into the government coffers, supplies jobs that producer tax revenues. They’re so busy spending our tax dollars, they don’t even care if that burden falls on a smaller and smaller portion of the populace. It’s all so consumed by graft that it can’t get out of its own way. Not enough tax dollars to support these boondoggles? They just keystroke in another couple of trillion dollars in debt. That’s the mentality today, a mentality designed to destroy, not to build. One day, it will be successful in its destruction and we will be left with the mess.

The munitions industry need their graft, too. They spend way too much buying off politicians to be left out, so even when we admit defeat in Afghanistan and leave billions of weapons and vehicles to our sworn enemies, there’s a political and financial need to start more wars we can’t win. The taunting of Russia and China are more easily understood by deciding which one will be the victor and which one they can sell munitions to.

This is where individual states have to stand up. New York can surrender to our enemies, but Texas doesn’t have to. California can surrender, but Florida doesn’t have to. Thinking of the United States as a whole is outdated. No one, not Trump, not anyone, will be able to put Humpty Dumpty back together again, it’s being sold out from under us, allowed to be ceded to roaming bands of gangs or cartels, even if we aren’t conquered, we are diluting our power to mere serfs.

I don’t say this out of any lack of patriotism, but that is reserved for a land, a way of life, a set of values, not to some convoluted, highly political means of extortion. Whatever fighting I will be expected to do, it will be for something like the old constitution or against some new form of tyranny. All of that is in flux and I’m sorry if you don’t see it, yet. If you still think that the United States is a single thing rather than fifty independent states that have no choice but to defend themselves from not our government, but from foreign governments. This is what Texas is all too slowly learning. I remain highly devoted to the idea of individual rights and private property and that loyalty extends to the state that will offer those values to me. Anything else, any other condition of existence must be resisted at all costs. This was the understanding of our forefathers, we just need to relearn it and quick.

The trouble is, we’re going to be faced with these problems. There really is no way out of it, because no matter what Washington decides to do, who it decides to surrender to, or how stupidly it chooses to fight a war they can’t win, there will be someone who decides they can have what I’ve worked for and that’s when it gets personal. That can come in any form and my job, as I see it, is to figure that out before they arrive on my doorstep so I’ll know how to greet them.

It would be better if more of us could agree to take on that burden together, before it gets down to door to door patrols, but at this point, it just has to play out.
